MUSEUMS AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
ABBE MUSEUM
The Abbe Museum preserves and celebrates the heritage of four Native tribes in Maine.
Museums are located at Sieur de Mont in Acadia National Park (Bus 4 and Bus 10) and next to the Bar Harbor Village Green.
BAR HARBOR HISTORICAL SOCIETY
The Bar Harbor Historical Society's La Rochelle Mansion and Museum is located on West Street, about a 10-minute walk from the
Village Green transit hub.
GREAT HARBOR MARITIME MUSEUM
The Great Harbor Maritime Museum is located in the village of Northeast Harbor (Bus 6).
JACKSON LABORATORY
The Jackson Laboratory
offers summer tours that provide an introduction to the laboratory's mission. Space is limited and preregistration is required.
The laboratory is located on the route of Bus 10.
MDI BIOLOGICAL LABORATORY
Check with the MDI Biological Laboratory
for information about tours and the MDI Science Cafe.
The laboratory is located on the route of Bus #1.
MOUNT DESERT ISLAND HISTORICAL SOCIETY
The Mount Desert Island Historical Society
operates two facilities featuring rotating exhibits. The Somesville Museum is on the route of Bus 7.
The Sound School House Museum is on the route of Bus 6.
GEORGE B. DOOR MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY
You can reach the College of the Atlantic's George B. Dorr Museum of Natural History
on the Eden Street bus, Bus #2. Exhibits depict the plant and animal life of Maine, showing how different species interact with natural and human environments.
WENDELL GILLEY MUSEUM
The Wendell Gilley Museum of Bird Carving
is located on the route of the Southwest Harbor bus, Bus #7.
