BIKE SEGMENTS OF THE PARK LOOP ROAD

Acadia's Park Loop Road offers some of the most glorious bicycling in North America. Before the Island Explorer, anyone who started around the loop needed to complete the full 20-mile trip. Now, by putting your bicycle on the Island Explorer, you can bike shorter Loop Road segments. The bus also lets you avoid the narrow two-way portion between Jordan Pond and the Cadillac Mountain Road.

CADILLAC NORTH RIDGE TO SIEUR DE MONTS (3.6 miles)
Get off the Jordan Pond bus just before the intersection with the Park Loop Road. Turn left onto the one-way portion of the Loop Road. This segment is down hill all the way.

SIEUR DE MONTS TO SAND BEACH (3.7 miles)
Bike to Sieur de Monts or ride the Sand Beach bus. The Loop Road climbs the ridge north of Champlain Mountain and then descends past the Precipice to Sand Beach. You can return to Bar Harbor on the Sand Beach bus or keep going and pick up the Sand Beach bus at Fabri Picnic Area.

SAND BEACH TO JORDAN POND (8.6 miles)
This ride includes Ocean Drive and passes Thunder Hole, Otter Cliff, Otter Cove, and Little Hunter's Beach. After the long gradual climb to Wildwood Stables, proceed carefully for a short distance on the two-way roadway to Jordan Pond House. Return to Bar Harbor on the Jordan Pond bus..
